TEAM KENNY

SEEKS LOCAL KNOWLEDGE

After missing the first two rounds of the GPR National Tarmacadam Rally Championship, due to work commitments in Iraq. Rob Richards of Wellington, Somerset will be at the 3rd round The Roush Manx Rally on 7/8th May.

Sadly new co-driver Brad Magnus will not be able to attend due to his work commitments. So Rob has secured a local co-driver Gina Shelley from Douglas on the Isle of Man. Rob is hoping this will benefit the team as this is Rob’s first visit to the I.O.M.

The new Metro 1.4 Gti has been completely sorted and tested and Rob is eager to get some competitive mileage done in his new car. Supreme Motorsport will be providing support to Team Kenny throughout the weekend. Rob will also be picking up some tips from team owner Bob Rose, who competed on last year’s event.

With 150 cars entered into the 25th Manx National Rally sponsored by ROUSH Technologies. The Team Kenny Metro will be running at car 135. With six cars running in the B9 class team Kenny will be hoping for a decent result.

The ROUSH Manx Rally will run a two-day format. The event will utilise closed public roads from the north to the south of the island. Based at the TT Grandstand, overlooking the capital town of Douglas, Rally teams will assemble on Friday morning for scrutineering and prepare themselves for the action, which commences at 7.30 pm from the beautiful southern seaside town of Port Erin.

The first timed special stage takes competitors through Port Erin high street onto the promenade lined with spectators and then out of the town climbing over the hills to finish amidst the picturesque whitewashed thatched cottages in the quintessentially Manx setting of Cregneash – and that's just for starters!

A further four stages planned for Friday evening will continue into the hours of darkness. Nine stages take place on Saturday to make up the 120-stage mile route before competitors return to the TT Grandstand for a high profile podium finish on Saturday afternoon.

Post event celebrations will culminate with the awards presentation being held in the newly refurbished Villa Marina Royal Hall.

The ROUSH Manx Rally is also a championship round for The Kumho National Rally Championship, The Mitsubishi Ralliart Evolution Challenge and the Peugeot TOTAL 206 Super Cup

Team Kenny will be supported on the ROUSH Manx Rally by Supreme Motorsport, Matador Pneu sport Tyres, PIAA (UK), Mintex, Silkolene Oils, Seaview Hotels, AC Services, CS Promotions and Rallycodriver.co.uk.

26/3/04***** PRESS RELEASE 2 *****

Team Kenny Continue on National Trail

Rob Richards, the South Western Rally Driver currently working in Iraq has secured the services of Norfolk based co-driver Brad Magnus for the remaining rounds of the GPR National Tarmacadam Rally Championship in a deal brokered by www. Rallycodriver.co.uk.

Their steed for the year is a 1400cc Rover Metro GTI built and fettled by the South West’s leading Motorsport preparation company, SUPREME MOTORSPORT.

The Metro, that shares it heritage with the legendary super-car of the 1980’s, the MG Metro 6R4, has been undergoing a full build at Supreme Motorsport and at the time of writing is nearing completion. The car is just receiving its final fettling before contesting the Tour of Cornwall Rally based at Newquay on the weekend of 3rd and 4th April.

The car will feature in class B9 of the GPR National Tarmacadam Championship, that features 9 events as far a field as Wales, Cornwall, The Isle of Man, Millbrook, The Midlands, Scotland, Ireland and Tyneside.

The first event of the season was missed due to parts not arriving in time from one of the suppliers, so Rob had to sit and watch on the sidelines as another driver took maximum points in the championship class

The Tour of Cornwall will be a multitude of firsts for Rob, first time in the Metro, first time in a front wheel drive car, first time with Brad, first time on the event and hopefully first in their class at the end of the 2 day rally. Scrutineering for the event is on Friday 2nd April, with the first competitive stage starting at 0830 Saturday morning.

Support for the Team comes from Supreme Motorsport, Matador Pneusport Tyres, PIAA Lamps, CS Promotions, Mintex and Silkolene.
